SiOnyx Aurora Pro infrared night vision camera

The SiOnyx Aurora PRO night vision camera is compact and lightweight. Unlike thermal cameras, it is a night vision device based on light amplification (visible and infrared), rather than heat detection. It therefore produces an image close to daylight conditions at night, especially when supplemented with an additional infrared light source such as an IR torch.

The camera offers three operating modes: day, twilight, and night, which adjust the level of light amplification. The day and twilight modes provide standard vision without infrared, while the night mode captures near-infrared light for use in very low-light conditions.

Another key advantage is its wide field of view, significantly broader than that of most thermal cameras, which are often limited in this regard. This makes it particularly suitable for observations in confined environments, such as monitoring bat roost exits in urban settings, where viewing distance is often restricted. This specific need has been highlighted by many professionals and led to the inclusion of this model in the product range.

The camera can be mounted on a tripod for fixed monitoring, allowing photo capture or continuous video recording of a cavity or roost. A mobile application enables live viewing on a smartphone, making observation more comfortable, and allows easy adjustment of settings (video quality, frame rate). A digital zoom is also available, although it noticeably degrades image quality.

Finally, the application may occasionally experience connection instability (frozen image or latency). However, these interruptions do not affect recordings: videos are properly saved on the microSD card.
