The 210/1 twine is a very fine monofilament nylon construction that offers an excellent balance between strength, flexibility, and visual discretion. It is thin enough to remain barely visible in the field, which improves capture efficiency while still providing the durability required for repeated use under ringing conditions. Its light structure gives the net a soft, supple catch, which helps reduce stress on birds during extraction.
With a 16 mm mesh, this mist net is particularly suitable for small passerines and other small‑bodied birds regularly handled during ringing sessions. It is highly appropriate for species such as warblers and nightingales (Sylviidae, Acrocephalidae), tits (Paridae), finches and goldfinches (Fringillidae), the robin (Erithacus rubecula), the goldcrest (Regulus regulus), the wren (Troglodytes troglodytes), and other insectivores or granivores of similar morphology.
The net is especially relevant in migratory flyways, along woodland edges and hedgerows, in reedbeds and along riverbanks, as well as in woodland understory and on standard ringing stations where small passerines are the main target. The 4‑shelf configuration allows the formation of effective capture pockets while remaining gentle and easy to handle during bird extraction.
It is available in two lengths: 12 m × 2.40 m and 18 m × 2.40 m, allowing users to choose the most suitable configuration depending on the site and trapping conditions.
This mist net can be used to capture bats, particularly small European species (pipistrelles, etc.). However, it should only be used under a regulatory exemption, within a scientific protocol and by operators trained in bat capture and handling, with rapid extraction and very careful removal from the net.
