Company history
Biotope was founded by four friends with a shared passion for flora and fauna. In 1992, these naturalists took up the challenge of making ecological expertise a business of the future. At the time, biodiversity issues were barely being taken into consideration, but our forerunners sensed that the environment was about to become a major social issue.
Specializing in expertise and knowledge of natural environments, the Biotope team carries out strategic environmental assessments for all types of development projects. Biotope is also a major player in nature conservation, with considerable involvement in the deployment of the Natura 2000 network in France. To carry out these missions, Biotope brings together the best experts in fauna, flora, landscape and communication, and develops cutting-edge technologies through its Research and Development division.

✓ A diversified catalog ✓ Prestigious partners ✓ Popular and recognized content
To make the environment a real issue in our society, Biotope soon after its launch set up a communications agency and its own publishing house, with the Parthénope collection.
The quality of the books in this collection, particularly the identification guides in the “France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland” series, has been acclaimed by many users, both amateurs and professionals. They are now an essential part of any naturalist's library. Biotope's books also feature images. Most of the photographs they contain are unpublished and have been taken in the field, with a constant concern for respecting species.
In 2000, Biotope entered into partnerships with prestigious organizations such as the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle to publish books that combine rigor and boldness, such as those in the Inventaires & Biodiversité collection.
