Nature mini-guides - Birds of gardens, towns and the countryside

Rural areas (hedgerows, open fields of cereal crops, vineyards, etc.) are heavily influenced by humans, but are nonetheless home to many birds. Similarly, within towns and villages, orchards, urban parks and gardens are home to a wide variety of birds.

This guide presents most of the birds that live in our urban centres, in the streets of large cities and rural villages, in parks and also in the countryside. Birds as common and popular as the sparrow and the blackbird, as well as species that are difficult to see, such as the grey crane that crosses the country during migration, or the grey partridge and the hen harrier, emblematic of the cereal plains.

On each page, the species are illustrated to scale, accompanied by a brief text and a few icons with useful additional information to help locate and identify them. Birds of the forests and mountains, aquatic environments, as well as birds of prey and seabirds will be the subject of other mini-guides.

About the illustrator

A self-taught artist, Toni Llobet began drawing in Catalan nature parks at the age of 16. Recognised for his great talent, he is now the artistic director of the encyclopaedia Handbook of Mammals of the World.
