The SMM-U1 is a highly sensitive ultrasound microphone, designed to record ultrasonic waves up to 192 kHz.

Weather-resistant, the SMM-U1 microphone has a differential output that significantly reduces noise from electromagnetic sources.

The improvements made to this microphone have increased the signals coming from the cables (up to 100 meters), it also has a differential output that significantly reduces noise and interference from electromagnetic sources.

The end result is a higher quality recording, even when cables are passed along other cables, on metrology towers or wind turbines.

The omnidirectional SMM-U1 is ideal for unattended recording where the precise direction of bat activity is not known in advance.

• Be careful, if the microphone is used with cables, to position it slightly or completely downwards (it is omnidirectional), so that water does not accumulate in the foam. Thus prioritize a high-level installation to point the microphone downwards.
• Always use protective foam.
• Make sure that the foam is not pushed against the microphone tip, there must be an 'air gap' between the end of the microphone and the foam.
• Do not handle the microphone if the foam pad is wet.
