Les fougères et plantes alliés des Antilles françaises

Since the publication of Jacques Fournet's Flore des Antilles in 2002 and Jean-François Bernard's A la découverte des fougères des Antilles in 2011, no new publications have been devoted to this exceptionally rich group. The Lesser Antilles are home to 323 taxa, 14% of which are endemic; the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique are home to 84% of the species known in the Lesser Antilles.

The Lesser Antilles islands form an archipelago conducive to the development of rich floral biodiversity, due to their geological origin, their relief, and their varying degrees of insularity. This diversity is found among the pteridophytes that have largely colonized all Caribbean ecosystems, from mangroves to volcanic peaks.

With its identification tools—family keys, genus keys, and species keys—this guide will delight amateur and professional botanists, who will find it easier to name the species they encounter during excursions on the islands.
