Electronic exhaustor for insects

Faster and more comfortable than traditional mouth models, the electric vacuum cleaner offers entomologists a collection system and a tube identical to those of other devices, for simple and efficient use. Like a classic vacuum cleaner, it allows small insects (gnats, Drosophiles, beetles) to be collected without crushing them, in order to then identify them, then release or naturalize them. This device has sufficient suction to capture insects up to 3 cm.

The insect vacuum incorporates a lithium-ion battery, rechargeable via a micro-USB cable provided to be recharged in the field via an automotive cigarette lighter or an external battery. In one-minute tests, a fully charged battery allowed continuous operation for 72 minutes (duration variable according to the temperature and age of the battery).

The set includes a narrower diameter replacement tip as well as replaceable filters (inner diameters of 9 and 6 mm), accessible by unscrewing the main piece. The emptying of the collected material is easily carried out from the front, after removal of the plastic cap.

This electric vacuum cleaner is particularly effective for collecting insects after a sweep with a Japanese umbrella, a sweeping net or on a night hunting cloth. It preserves the entomologist’s breath while avoiding the inhalation of dust and microparticles.
