Developed specifically for bat research, the SM4BAT combines an innovative new design with simple and intuitive operation. This version is the Full Spectrum (FS) model.

This detector/recorder makes bat research easier, faster, more cost-effective, and more reliable.

The housing is made of robust polycarbonate and features an integrated mounting bracket and security cover. It only requires four D (LR20) batteries, and both its weight and size are reduced by half compared to the SM3BAT.

Its low-power processor ensures extended operating time — the SM4BAT offers the best battery life on the market, with the FS version providing between 275 and 480 hours of recording depending on bat activity in the field.

Ease of use has also been greatly improved, with a completely redesigned “Quick Start” menu offering preinstalled default configurations that can be customized to your needs via the device menu or the SM4 Configurator software on a computer.

For long-term studies, the SM4BAT supports SDHC and SDXC memory cards up to 1 TB (see our SD card range HERE; contact us for 512 GB options). Recordings (.WAV) can be compressed by a factor of 2, 4, or 8 without any loss of quality.

An optional GPS can be used to date and geolocate all your recordings. Other accessories are available, such as 10 m and 50 m cable extensions, among others.

The Wildlife Acoustics SM4BAT comes with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.
