Nearly 15 years of work were needed to a committee of more than 60 recognized experts, convened by the Botanical Society of France (SBF) with Jean-Marc Tison and Bruno de Foucault, leading to what is expected to become a reference work flora completely redesigned, going well beyond a simple compilation of existing identification keys. Updated recent discoveries, Flora Gallica following the latest (the APG III) classification.
Flora gallica appears as a single volume, portable field. The book includes identification keys of all natural species, naturalized or cultivated in large Pteridophyta, gymnosperms and angiosperms present in mainland France and Corsica. The keys are complemented by information distribution and habitat and illustrations necessary for the user. Covering the whole metropolitan area, Flora Gallica describes about 6000 taxa nearly 5000 natural species spontaneous.
